“Meet Dr. Shawania Marshall”

Dr. Shawania Marshall is a proud native of Barbour County, Alabama, and as a young girl growing up in a small community, she has always had a vision to achieve “Excellence”! Dr. Marshall is an experienced twenty-year Educator, Empowerment Speaker, DEI Consultant, and Social Justice Advocate. She possesses over thirty years of experience serving as an Empowerment Speaker, and she possesses over twenty years as an Educator and Advocate. As a proud, intelligent African American female and educated professional, Dr. Marshall possesses a Bachelor’s in Broadcast Journalism and Sports Information with a minor in Criminal Justice from Troy University, a Master’s in Education in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s in Public Administration from Capella University, and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University.

Dr. Marshall possesses several certifications. Her certifications consist of the following: Doctoral Researcher, Professional 6-12 ELA Alabama Educator Certification, Gifted and ELA 6-12 Georgia Educator Certification, Texas Educator Certification, GCPS Assessment Leadership Team Certification, Tennessee Professional Educator Certification, and American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Certification.

Dr. Marshall is affiliated with several organizations. She is a proud member of the Gwinnett County Association of Educators, the Georgia Association of Educators, the National Education Association, the NAACP, The Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the illustrious Divine Nine organization of the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

  As a woman, who aspires daily to become a better version of herself, Dr. Marshall founded Women Of Empowerment & Purpose, in 2020, and after rebranding in 2024, the current name is Unapologetically Empowered & Purposed. The vision of this organization is focused on “Empowering women through spirituality, inspiration, and support.”  Dr. Marshall’s God given purpose is to continue empowering, encouraging, and providing support for all women. As a servant of God, Dr. Marshall, has always been committed to encouraging and uplifting others. As a result of Dr. Marshall’s commitment to her community, profession, and making a difference, Dr. Marshall was nominated as the 2008-2009 Barbour County High School Teacher of the Year, and she was selected as the November 2020 Legacy Center Spotlight Member in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Marshall was also recognized as one of the “2024 Doctors Of Excellence,” by Black Leaders Worldwide.”

As a proud advocate for educational equity and social justice issues, Dr. Marshall established Prestige Educational Consulting (P.E.C.) in 2024 because she realized the desire and need for educational consulting that went beyond the normal approach. P.E.C. offers an array of services to assist students in middle and high school, family supports resources, collegiate student services, educator classroom management training, district support services, and DEI Consulting for all organizations. Dr. Marshall’s long-term goals are to continue striving to break racial and systemic barriers and bring more awareness to the issues of racial disparities that are still prevalent in our society, by changing the conversation, and courageously doing what Mahatma Ghandi stated, when he declared, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”  Also, after facing her own personal issues with racial discrimination and harassment, Dr. Marshall has dedicated her life and future to impacting positive social change. She vehemently stands firmly on the words of Angela Davis, “I can no longer accept the I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”

As a Certified Fitness Trainer, Dr. Marshall proudly assist in helping others to achieve their own fitness goals. Through her own personal journey with health and fitness, Dr. Marshall continues to help those who desire to improve their own health and body.

Lastly, in Dr. Marshall’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, her sorority sisters, volunteering, learning about her Black History, & watching football. This is Dr. Shawania Marshall!
